You finally mastered your favourite salon hair styling technique and you feel so confident! You can have waves, curls or straight hair in less that 15 minutes and you are all set to start your day.
But how do you deal with heat damage?
As with all the heat styling tools, you should know that heat can seriously damage your hair.
Common Heat Damage Signs
- Hair breakage
- Split ends
- Dry tangled hair
- Difficulty on styling your hair
Can all this hair damage be repaired?
I have curly hair and if I don’t use a styling product after washing them, my hair just won’t stay in place! I get this crazy frizzy hair and I’m sure you all know what I mean. I also love straight or wavy hair so I cannot live without my flat iron and my curling wand! I guess you always want what you don’t have!
So for me, heat styling is a daily habit.
A few years ago, my hair was in very bad shape. Hair breakage would not let my hair grow, split ends everywhere and dry hair was what I had to deal with. I was pretty disappointed and I thought I could never reverse all this damage.
Finally, I searched for products and vitamins that would help me repair the damage and after a few months.. Voila! My hair was healthy and strong again!
So here are the 6 tips that helped my hair grow fast and made them look healthy and shiny again:
1. Get a Haircut
Some of us may cringe at the thought of cutting our hair, but you should know that this helps to get rid of the split ends and grow healthy shiny hair. It also helps styling your hair.
You should visit your hairdresser about once every three months.
2. Use Biotin
Thank God, a friend of mine introduced me to Biotin.
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is a part of the vitamin B family. It is also known as vitamin H. Our body needs biotin to help convert certain nutrients into energy and it is also important for the health of our hair, skin, and nails.
The ones I tried were the Solgar Biotin 1000 µg Vegetable Capsules . You take one each morning with your breakfast and the results are obvious after 2 months of use.
3. Rinse with apple cider vinegar
This is a great natural remedy for everyone who deals with itchy scalp, hair breakage or frizzy hair. I tried it and I am still doing this at least 3 times a month.
You mix around 4-5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water and you pour the mixture over your hair (after shampooing and conditioning). Massage it gently into your scalp. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse it out.
It really worked for me and made my hair more strong and shiny.
4. Use Heat Protection Products
After washing my hair I always apply my Revlon Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment 150ml
This is a leave- in spray treatment that repairs dry damaged hair, controls frizz and protects your hair from heat. I also love, love, love the coconut smell and how soft my hair is after use. Spray a few times on wet hair before blow drying it. Apply to your ends and avoid the roots if your hair is oily.
5. Invest in right type of heat styling tools
Try to use an Ionic Blow Dryer which dries the hair faster than alternatives and helps reduce static. A good option is the Remington D5951
I always flat iron my hair, so I chose a high quality ceramic straightener. Make sure you use the iron on dry hair and always brush before using it. Mine is no longer available but a similar one is the CONAIR Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron
6. Use Argan Oil
Argan Oil has so many benefits for your skin, nails, and hair as it is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It really helped my hair grow healthy and look so shiny.
I love the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil which can be used on face, hair and nails! I just take a few drops and apply with my fingers to my ends when I finish my hair style.
To Sum Up:
My hair started to look great after just a few months of trying these products and I was overexcited! What I really loved was that my hair was looking so healthy and shiny that everyone kept asking what hair colour I use.
But you know what? That was actually my natural hair color!
So these are the tips that really worked for me girls and I am happy to share them with you. I hope you get to try them too and let me know what you think!
